ALPAGE RECORDS is a growing French dance label based in Lille and run by Vincent Thierion aka Marklion, ex-DAT Politics member and all-round prolific musical visionary.

“After having choped rock with Tone Rec in the 90’s and exploded electro-pop-club with Dat Politics at the beginning of the century, Vincent Thiérion aka Marklion attacks now dancefloors and pop .

For Vincent, everything starts at 8 when he discovered his uncle’s precious collection (old electronics gear, radios, arcade games…). Everything was in place for the birth of his sounds experiments passion, quickly he formed his first band and created a pirate radio with friends as he did his first recordings.

In 1997, he founded Tone rec., a mix of post rock and Electronic experiments, then in 1999 it’s the birth of Dat Politics. Since 2009 Vincent dedicates himself to his solo project Marklion, Cosmic Control and his label Alpage.

In his First Album, his new stylistic freedom led him to collaborate with musicians like Etienne Jaumet from Zombie Zombie, We are enfant terrible, Cercueil, Rocky and Tamara Goukassova to explore new musical genres”.

In association with Leeds’ own DIY dance label, STARGAZE (run by Jon Nash of Hookworms/Nope/Cowtown and Matt Woodward of Galaxians/Azores) ALPAGE will host two showcase nights in the UK this August, highlighting a number of exciting acts and artists associated with the label, namely MARKLION, live funk/disco trio BODYBEAT, duo YOU MAN, and Leeds’ own two-person boogie funk machine GALAXIANS. With an emphasis on dancing and crowd participation, hosts Vincent Thierion and Matt Woodward hope to initiate and encourage a sweat-soaked summer party vibe at two of the UK’s most well-known live music hubs.

The first of these two showcase nights will be held at Brudenell Social Club on Friday 22 August, with the second at Old Blue Last in London on Saturday 23 August. Tickets for the former event are now on sale via We Got Tickets, Jumbo Records, Crash Records and Brudenell Social Club.
